        Phonics Monster Book 5: Special Sounds is the most advanced book in the Phonics Monster series, and it offers a comprehensive introduction to advanced special sounds that often do not follow a pattern and must be memorized and practiced.

        This can be a phonics book for native English speakers, and it is also an “ESL Phonics” book, which means that in addition to teaching the various sounds, it focuses on the differences between similar sounds which are especially difficult for ESL students (in contrast with native speakers, to whom such differences are natural).

        In the final section, several reading passages help reinforce all of the special sounds. The Appendix contains the answers to all of the quizzes and tests.
